Responsible for loading, transporting and unloading masonry/hardscape products from the warehouse to customer job sites following established safety, service and quality policies and procedures.
- Performs daily pre-trip vehicle safety inspection according to company guidelines.
- Maintains truck maintenance, fluid levels and fuel as needed or required.
- Reports any vehicle mechanical problems on a timely basis to ensure prompt attention from fleet maintenance.
- Follows written and oral instructions from dispatcher to ensure each customer order is loaded accurately.
- Pulls materials from warehouse/inventory yard according to customer order, loads, delivery vehicle and properly secures the load to minimize shifting and damage in transit.
- Determines the most direct route to customer job site giving consideration to safety, traffic and state DOT regulations.
- Wears personal protective equipment as required or needed.
- Drives/operates delivery truck to safely deliver and unload materials at customer job site.
- Inspects customer job site to ensure truck can be operated safely and delivery of materials can be made safely and efficiently.
- Communicates professionally and pleasantly with customers.
- Keeps the interior and exterior of the truck clean and free of clutter to include regularly removing road film.
- Completes required paperwork timely and accurately.
- Follows established company policies and guidelines for safety, quality and customer service.
- Maintains neat and professional personal appearance.
- Unloads deliveries of materials/products and places in the proper warehouse location.
- Performs other duties as required by dispatcher or other management employees.
- Assists with walk-in as needed.
- Operates forklift to unload, load or move materials.
- Assists with taking inventory as needed.
- Performs general housekeeping duties to include neatly stacking and storing supplies/materials, sweeping warehouse and emptying trash receptacles as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by store manager or other management employees.
Requirements:
- HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum age of 21 years old required.
- Current, valid driver’s license required.
- Current, valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Satisfactory driving and criminal record required.
- General knowledge of the local area is preferred.
- Certified to operate forklift and/or Moffet delivery truck
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as measurements.
- Prefer at least one year of experience in a driving position, especially with a construction or construction-related company.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building materials is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions (written and oral) and to work independently.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Prefer stable work record to include no more than 3 jobs in the past 5 years.
